LALUC network: Who we are
We started of as a diverse group of students and early-career researchers to established professionals across multiple fields and disciplines in social and natural sciences.
The group integrates a diverse set of methods and approaches, based mostly on fieldwork, laboratory analysis, surveys, interviews, and data analysis, as well as remote sensing, modeling, and programming. These approaches are applied across a broad range of more focused research, including palaeo-environmental reconstruction, sedimentological and ecological analysis, biodiversity and ecosystem monitoring, socio-economic experiments, and policy analysis.
Our network merges currently 50 partners institutions across Latin America, spanning operations in more than 10 countries. This network includes universities, NGOs, government institutes, and international organizations, providing broad research and collaboration access, so as potential for detecting areas of weak incidence for future collaboration development.
LALUC Network Members
Starting point of this network was a research symposium at the University of Göttingen in August, 2025. Authors of published report are part of this network.
Partners in Latin America
The research of the network spans a wide spatial distribution in Latin American countries, targeting local to regional and continental scales. Agroecosystems and rainforests are the biomes that receive the greatest attention, followed by temperate/high-elevation and tropical forests and drylands. Participants are currently connected to 50 partner institutions across Latin America, spanning more than 10 ecosystem provinces. These institutions include universities, NGOs, government institutes, and international organizations, offering broad opportunities to future inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration (see Figure 2)Contact:
