Forum for Interdisciplinary Religious Studies (FIRSt)
The Forum for Interdisciplinary Religious Studies (FiReF) is a discussion platform that brings together religious scholars in Göttingen. It serves as a communication forum for sharing information about current developments in religious studies in Göttingen and as a space for free thinking, where participants can easily share their own ideas and findings for discussion. Göttingen's religious studies research draws on a wide range of perspectives from the University of Göttingen's faculties of philosophy, social sciences, theology and law, as well as from the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity. In order to do justice to this diversity and promote fruitful exchange, FiReF is guided by an affirmative approach to disciplinary differences and the endeavour to generate new research perspectives through transregional and diachronic comparisons. In addition to the website and newsletter, thematic salons are held at irregular intervals to discuss excerpts from ongoing research projects and ideas for joint projects.
