Programme structure of M.Sc. Developmental, Neural, and Behavioral Biology
This is an overview of the study structure. For details about the modules available for each section and their content, please refer to the list of modules.
I. Core Studies (60 C)
- 3 Core modules (each 12 C)
- 2 Advanced modules (each 12 C, 7-9 week labrotation)
Mind: Prerequisite for entering the advanced modules is passing the respective core module (see module description).
II. Professionalisation (30 C)
- Profile module (12 C):
- Can be an additional core module,
- a core module from the Master programme Molecular Life Sciences - Microbiology, Biotechnology and Biochemistry or
- modules within one study focus of the Master programme Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution.
- If authorised by the examination committee modules from other faculties or »assembled modules« (max 3 modules) or an additional lab rotation.
- On request without grading.
- Advanced module III (6 C, compulsory module): M.Bio.331 Scientific project management
- 12 C in area of key competencies (no grading in final certificate):
- program specific key competence modules
- key competencies of the faculty (incl. self organized laboratory projects or professional internship)
- soft skills offered by the university
III. Master Thesis (30 C)
- 26 weeks
- Prerequisite is successful completion of at least 78 C of modules within the program including both advanced modules I and II as well as advanced module III M.Bio.331.
